At the first of the year both Karen and I purchased a desk calendar, you know the ones where you remove a page each day. My wife, always looking for a challenge and some educational content, purchased the Vocabulary Builder Calendar with the promise of a new word each day. Me being more into the inane chose the Trivia Calendar. So each morning we tear off a sheet from our respective calendars and share the newly revealed gem, not much else to do in Regina at 6:00 am I guess. Doing so let's us share and Karen leads the way, and I follow.
Well the calendar regiment as gone past the half way mark now and I am greeted each morning with the tearing off of Karen's day-old word to be followed by a groan. You see so far after almost 200 words, she has had only two she did not know. She, and I, have been met with the likes of, overt, tepid, and posthumous. Unlike Karen's calendar my has been a success I have learned that snails have four noses, there are one million ants for each human on the planet, and that Betty was a late comer to the Flintstones chewable vitamins. On the morning that my wife finally blew a gasket over her calendar she had just been presented with bog. Whilst lamenting and in disbelief I tore off my page and was greeted with this fact " The longest recorded flight of a chicken is 13 seconds".
I could immediately see this animated chicken proud in its achievement, hey I'm a product of Warner Brothers reruns. As I always felt that everyone's life would be better with a Hollywood style soundtrack, think about it. Early morning you just buttered your toast it slips off the counter onto the floor wah-wah-waaa and then you realize it is butter side up Tah-dah ! Moving on ... I vowed to create a theme song or soundtrack for this record breaking flight.
Imagine if you will an animated chicken, getting all prepared for the attempt, ruffling feathers, trotting in a circle, first clockwise, then back. Starts a trot, a full chicken gallop, and we have lift-off ... and landing . Then in the silent aftermath looking back triumphant at the achievement you see that the launch point is only a few feet away.
So without further delay I present "Flight of a Chicken"
